A day at the beach is always a great way to spend the day. A search of the internet seemed to bring up the same two lakes around Edmonton for swimming, Wabamun we chose for our first lake trip.
We missed our exit and ended up at a boat launch with a beautiful playground and water park. There was also a marina full of sailboats, which I will need to look into later (as I already miss racing sailboats). This will likely be a destination of a future trip.
Looping around we arrived at Wabamun Provincial Park, finding a shady parking spot it was time to walk down and see what if anything this park had for a beach.
The boys were quick to get into the water, and as always had a blast digging in the sand.
We took the rafts out for a paddle, C practices his swimming and of course they had a great time running around on the playground.
The beach was nice; the water was green and full of weeds, with a warning about swimmers itch. With all the swimming was fine, and we all had fun. I am hoping that the water is cleaner in the bigger part of the lake, where we saw the water park; however we will have to wait for our next trip out this way to find out.

Hi! Welcome to Edmonton! I grew up there and still return two or three times a year to visit family. It’s interesting to see it from a newcomer’s perspective. As I grew up sailing on this lake I felt I had to point out that it’s spelled “Wabamun.” (no h). Looking forward to your newly relocated posts!
Thank you. I will make the correction. I was excited to see sail boats on the lake, hopefully get a chance to go sailing there next season.
