Driving through Jasper

At a bathroom break the boys decided they wanted to take walk.

Not being prepared for the temperature drop at night we decided to cut our camping trip short.  Instead of travelling and camping through the Rockies we decided to drive through Jasper to Maligne Lake, and then head for Edmonton late to sleep.

Looking for animals on our walk.

The mountains, rivers, lakes are amazing and never fail to impress.  Stopping for a bathroom break we went for a short walk, finding our way to the river and a great view.

A little frog on the trail.

The trail ends at the river. A beautiful area.

Scanning the mountains for animals

View of Medicine Lake as we drove.

What we assumed was an orphan wandering along the road.

C at the parking lot for Medicine Lake.

Back in the car we drove south to the turn off to Medicine and Maligne Lake.

Medicine Lake is beautiful.  At the stop we learned that this lake has an underground river underneath it and only during the seasons when the water is high does the lake appear, otherwise the valley dries up.

Maligne Lake I will be posting on shortly.

A beautiful area that I look forward to exploring more.

The park is full of animals.

  1. I’ve been looking forward to your Jasper posts.. interesting that the young sheep was by itself.. usually that road is filled with sheep.. I’ve never seen Medicine Lake that high, it really is beautiful.

    • Thank you. I just got back, so can now post the rest of the pictures. I had never driven up this road before, an amazing place. We will return with the canoe and explore some more next season.

  2. Great pictures and what a beautiful lake. Interesting that it hides in an underground river unless the water is high. What fun for your boys…and for you.

  3. Thanks for checking out my lifestyle blog, Bmore Energy. These photos are beautiful.
